the ground grabs fistfuls of grass 

into tight ponytails      gropes 

hard enough to spray out 

in green yanks   everywhere, 

                        grinning 

 

oil glitters on tops of poison ladies

poised like sisters, a pact, a threat,

dancing disco in the morning light,

last night still sparkling stickily 

on their leafy trios
